School readiness is not simply about knowing the alphabet or counting to ten. True readiness encompasses emotional maturity, social skills, physical development, and cognitive foundations that allow a child to thrive in a classroom environment.
Your child may be ready for school if they can follow two or three-step instructions, separate from caregivers without extreme distress, engage in play with other children, manage basic self-care tasks, and sustain attention on a task for at least 10–15 minutes.
If your child is not yet showing these signs, that is completely normal — and there is a great deal you can do to help.
